WHERE'S THE LOVE MR. MET?
I used to have this argument with by brother (a Mets fan) all the time. The Mets fans are a bunch of front runners. If the team doesn't win, the fans don't care. Kranepool just confirms it.

Front-runner can also be used to describe a type of sports fan who likes only the team that is winning. Also known as a fairweather fan, the person will quickly, and repeatedly change allegiance with athletes and teams as teams and players become "good" or "bad" based on records.
Given these comments from Kranepool and the Jimmy Rollins comments casting similar aspersions against Phillies fans, the question can be asked - Is there any team in the NL East that does not have a "Bandwagon" fan base?
Lets see:
Mets? Check.
Phillies? Check.
Braves? Oh yeah, big time front runners.
Marlins? Do we even have to ask?
Nationals? Too soon to tell, but they have lost a couple of franchises in the past. More because of persistent futility than anything else. Maybe the third time is the charm.
These guys wouldn't last a century as Cubs fans. Then again, they do have two World Championships, so I guess the franchise manages to survive pretty well in spite of the lack of loyalty the fans give them. Maybe teams need the fans to turn their back on the team occasionally to stay focused and motivated on winning. These guys are missing all the fun of second guessing and complaining about their beloved franchises futility though.
Oh well, c'est la vie.

Like Mets fans, Kranepool said he only watches the team if they are winning.
"I only watch a good product," Kranepool said. "If they are winning, I will watch, and if not, I turn the station and root for someone else.
"I am a Met true and true. I am the only guy who played his whole career with the Mets, I've got the longest time, longevity-wise ... but I still want to see a good ball club."
