The value of one year of a Division I men's basketball scholarship - USATODAY.com
To estimate the dollar-value of one year of a Division I men's basketball scholarship, USA TODAY interviewed more than 50 sources, including current and former players and coaches; college athletics administrators and consultants; player agents; pro basketball scouts, executives and administrators; academic researchers and experts in sports sponsorship valuation, college financial aid and federal data related to the U.S. workforce. USA TODAY also used individual-school and aggregated data from revenue-and-expense reports schools file annually with the NCAA. School data were obtained through open-records requests. The median figures are based on reports covering the 2008-09 school year, the last one for which the NCAA has published aggregated data for all Division I schools, public and private. The figures for individual schools are based on their reports for the 2009-10 school year and 2010-11 season ticket costs
