The award is revealed on MLB Network, and their analyst Bill Ripken was one of the few who predicted in spring training that Posey would be the MVP. I caught up with him yesterday, and here’s what he had to say about how Posey made that prediction come true:
“It’s his whole attitude. You see how he handles himself and you don’t think that any situation that comes up is too big for him. I love his approach as a hitter. His whole target is to use the big part of the field, and when you do that successfully you’re not really going to do anything to get yourself in trouble. He’s quiet at home plate, he doesn’t have a lot of body movement. That approach usually translates to someone doing something pretty good.”
