Update: Posey agreed to a one-year, $8 million contract with the Giants on Friday, avoiding arbitration, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Recommendation: Posey will earn a pretty penny next year after taking NL MVP honors in 2012. Perhaps the Giants will give more thought to wrapping up the 25-year-old long-term, but for now, Posey will work with the one-year deal.
