If the net effect of the deal is Francouer for Gillespie, then it's worth a shot. The Giants clearly need Frenchy to be more the 2011 version (20-87-.285) and not the 2013 version (3-13-.208). Maybe some of the same spark that invigorated Pat Burrell in 2010 after his release by the Rays?
We will need something like that and perhaps more. Only six and a half out but climbing over everyone else in the division will make it seem closer to ten out. It seems like the Giants may lose out to the Rangers for Garza, which is OK provided they can get Norris. A whiff on both may make them want to consider being sellers more than buyers before it's too late.
