It would be easier to keep the band together when the season ends like the one shown above. But that's not going to be the case here. So we enter the audition for next year phase. Find out who should stay and who should go. At least you can find out what you may have or need for next year.
Heck, bring up Gary Brown and his .235 average. Bring up Heath Hembree and see if he pitch up here. Give Joe Panik a look somewhere, maybe 3B. You have to find out what these guys can do, sooner rather than later and now is as good a time as any. This has been a pretty lousy year for the farm system as it is, maybe they can close the season with a rush.
Between Kieschnick and Juan Perez and Andres Torres and perhaps even Gregor Blanco, the Giants seem to have an abundance of backup / AAAA outfielders. Although it may be a wee bit early to give up on Kieschnick. This seems to be a hallmark of the organization, making a definitive judgement based on a limited number of AB's.
I understand the part about Roger being a bit of an aged prospect (ie: if he had the talent, it would have been demonstrated earlier) but....The same could be argued about Juan Perez, but that seems to be how the Giants track guys in the minors. Heck, Chris Stratton and Martin Agosta may be a level too low, but I'm not going to knock the track record as far as pitcher go in this organization.
The Giants problem lately seems to be acquiring and holding onto three suitable major league quality starting OF's at the same time. When backups are starting in the OF, offenses stagnate. Jeff Francoeur is not even remotely resembling the reincarnation of Pat "The Bat" and /or "The Machine" Burrell. Pity that.
Seems as if the Giants off-season is going to involve a lot of house cleaning.

LF Roger Kieschnick is getting a long look in left field for the Giants. So far, the rookie hasn't given the club any reason not to pursue a free agent in the offseason. Kieschnick went 0-for-2 in Sunday's loss to the Orioles. His batting average is a respectable .265, but he has yet to homer and he has only three RBIs to show for 34 at-bats. Maybe this says all you need to know about what the Giants think of Kieschnick. In the sixth inning of a 2-1 game Sunday, manager Bruce Bochy pinch-hit .207-hitting OF Jeff Francoeur for Kieschnick. Francoeur struck out.
