Giants scrape together five runs with four Mendozas

timmy cards

I'm not sure what is more amazing about these Giants.

  • The way Timmy has been pitching lately -- 17 consecutive scoreless innings.
  • The fact that he ( and other starters ) may have to pitch at that level to win given that these Gignantes posted a lineup last night with four hitters flirting with the Mendoza line.
  1. Juan Perez, in the lead off slot, hitting .167
  2. Hector Sanchez, batting 6th, hitting .201
  3. Brandon Hicks, batting 8th, hitting .166
  4. Tim Lincecum, batting 9th, hitting .111
What may be even more amazing was the fact that Cardinals pitching allowed five runs in spite of this. That is too many weak sticks in the lineup. The rookie helped the Giants out by walking six. I'm not sure the Giants can count on this continued gift giving on the part of opposing pitching staffs.

The news feed indicates that Pagan seems more likely to join Scutaro than the lineup and if that turns out to be the case, the Giants have to figure out how to replace his productivity in the lead off slot.

Where have you gone Brett Butler?

Tim Lincecum walked around the clubhouse this afternoon in a Clint Dempsey jersey. After a 5-0 winover the St. Louis Cardinals, he switched to his personalized U.S. Soccer jersey. They’re the same for the most part, just a touch different. You can say the same for his last two starts.
