Sounds like a toolsy, OF. Hope the lack of productivity is not a sign of being a chronic under-achiever. Between him and Jebavy, maybe one good, back-up, utility OF down the road.

Pick: 186th Overall (6th Round) Pick By: SF Position: CF Born: November 4, 1993 School: Clemson Class: JR Height: 6'2"    Weight: 190 Bats: L    Throws: R Comments: Though Duggar had arguably the best all-around tools in the Cape Cod League last summer, he never really has lived up to them in three years at Clemson. A team that believe he can fulfill his untapped potential at the plate could select him as high as the second round. Duggar has the bat speed and strength to hit for power and drives the ball during batting practice, but he doesn't during games. There's a lot going on in his left-handed swing and he's susceptible to breaking balls. While he has a knack for drawing walks, he also gets too passive at times and strikes out too often. A well above-average runner, Duggar has the speed to steal bases and cover ground in the outfield. He has played mostly right field for the Tigers and his strong arm is an asset there, though he'll probably move to center field as a pro. How much his bat develops will determine whether his future is as an everyday player or an extra outfielder.

"On a Clemson squad loaded with pro prospects"? The guys blessed with seemingly all the physical gifts sometimes do not produce as well those who dominate the mental, work ethic side. The ones who put all three elements together develop into something special. I feel a rant coming on, so I'm going to stop here.

Let's see if the Giants can kick in the other elements, if indeed they are an issue here. I think I read a Tyler Colvin comp somewhere, which would not be too bad. I'd be OK with that in the 6th Round.

Some had him ranked higher in spite of what may have happened at Clemson. It seems to me he was very highly regarded coming into the season. If so, the Giants just got themselves a steal.

Ranked #167 by BA, picked in the #186 spot, so about right on the value side. With the picks through Marshall in the 5th Round, the Giants drafted five players ranked in the Top 100 by Baseball America, with 30 teams in the league, the expectations are for 3.33 ( not sure how you get 0.33 of a prospect ) so the Giants out-performed.

SNAP JUDGEMENT -  assuming all get signed - I give them a solid B, maybe a B+.
But we know you can't really grade these things seriously for 3-4 years at best, so I don't know why I even engage in this juvenile blogging hi-jinks.

Scouting Report:On a Clemson squad loaded with pro prospects, Duggar has some of the loudest tools. He played right field for the Tigers this year because he has a plus arm, but Duggar has the requisite speed and actions to play center field at the next level. He is a plus-plus runner who ran a 6.26-second 60-yard dash for scouts last fall. That speed doesn't play as fast in games as he takes time to get out of the box. And on the bases, he was thrown ot in 5 of his 15 attempts. The questions on Duggar are more centered on his offensive value. While no one is projecting him to develop into the middle of the order bat, some scouts wonder if his bat can develop enough for him to be even a bottom-of-the-lineup bat. A lefthanded hitter, Duggar has some bat speed and shows some ability to make contact against quality pitching. He has well below-average power. Ultimately, the club that signs Duggar will be buying a potentially special defensive player, who may or may not swing the bat well enough to profile as a regular.
