This Day in History: Mulholland is a crafty lefty and my birthday

..I was at this game, maybe you can see me and my date in the LF bleachers. I thought Mulholland just flipped the ball we were so far away and didn't realize what he did until we saw it on the news highlights later that night. The crowd did gasp a little bit though.

As I recall, later that night Jack "The Ripper" Clark got hit in the face by a fastball and I still remember the sound was as if the ball hit his bat. My date for the evening managed a chuckle which effectively ended the evening for me

Good times and I had quite the head of hair back then as well on This Day in History - 29 years ago.

Hernandez chopped a one-hopper back to Mulholland to lead off the third. Mulholland made a quick backhand stab … so quick that the ball decided to hang out in there. Unable to unlodge the ball from his glove, Mulholland tossed the entire glove to first, inspiring head scratches until the end of time.

"I didn't hit the [snot] out of it," Hernandez says now. "To get it stuck like that in the crisscross netting you usually have to hit it very hard."
