Giants pitching led to slaughter, two Timmy's and the kiddie corps

What else can you say about this one that the score doesn't announce loud and clear? Kemp had three AB's (and three hits I think) before Brandon Crawford had his first AB. Greinke had seemingly more offensive production from his bat than the Giants entire lineup.

Greinke (15-8) pitched six scoreless innings and hit his fourth career home run, and the Los Angeles Dodgers romped past the San Francisco Giants 17-0 on Saturday night to build on their lead in the NL West.

''Their lineup's been about as good as it gets in the past couple of months,'' Greinke said of the Giants. ''Usually if I get four or five you get a little comfortable with it, but the way they've been playing, each extra run was appreciated.''

One day after being held to three hits in a 9-0 loss, the Dodgers doubled that output in the first inning against Giants starter Tim Hudson then coasted behind Greinke.

The bright spots may have been Cordier, who not only looked good enough with the control while also throwing near 100 MPH, but also showed a workable secondary pitch (slider?) and Chris Heston who showed a nice arsenal of pitches. Of course by then, both were pitching to the AAA Dodgers for the most part and the Dodgers may have been exhausted the hitting barrage they put on during the first seven.

Bochy absolutely put his son in a very tough spot to start, but Van Slyke just pole-axed his HR. He also put Timmy in a tough spot. Lincecum and Hudson are similar pitching styles and they weren't finished with Huddy when he left. Maybe a different look would have helped. Maybe not.

As always, the good news is this only counts as one loss and maybe the Dodgers pulled some hits forward from today's game. They shouldn't need much with their ace Kershaw on the hill and a chance to drive a stake through the heart at any Giants hopes to win the division title this year.

At least some of the kids got to play. That's always nice. Good to put a face to the name and the stat line. Kickham's ERA is once again stratospheric, I'm not sure where the Giants go with him from here. Cordier and Strickland look like they can make some noise in a future Giants bullpen.
