Kurt Warner rises from the ashes....again

I have to admit what Kurt Warner is doing in Phoenix is nothing short of amazing. He appeared to be done with the Giants, only to revitalize his career with Arizona. Looking back further, he only ends up with the Giants after the Rams seemed ready to give up on him and go in another direction. Even in Arizona he has managed to keep the team on an even keel after they drafted Matt Leinhart. This could have been an opportunity to see another Eli Manning situation developing, but both QB's seem to be handling the situation with uncommon peace and tranquility.

Interesting to look back to 2004 article from the NY Times to see how Kurt handled the transition to the Eli Manning era with the Giants with a ton of class, grace and dignity.

Which brings up an interesting twist on the Eli Manning deal. Granted, the deal worked out for the Giants. They won a Super Bowl with Eli, which justified the kings ransom Jerry Reese paid to get Eli. They had a vision and it played itself out. But would the franchise had been better of if his vision said to him--listen Jerry, stay patient with Kurt, he will heal from the effects of the concussion, he will get regain his courage in the pocket and he will lead this team to the Super Bowl.

What would the Giants have done with the draft picks they saved? How much more of an impact would Shawn Merriman had on the Giants D-fense if indeed that is who they would have picked up?
It's hard to reconstruct what would have happened if the G-men would have chosen this path, but it sure is fun to speculate. Bottom line is it's worked out for both QB's. And the deal worked out not only for the Giants and the Chargers directly, but now in hindsight we can see how the Cardinals have profited from the deal.

Good to see Kurt having success again. He deserves it.

Interesting that the teams that played hard through the end of the season seem to have been rewarded with victories. The teams that pulled off the throttle seemed to not be able to pick up the intensity in time.

The Eagles getting the doors blown off them by the suddenly resurgent Cowboys highlighted this and it's not a good sign for the Colts. I fairness, they were going to get a bye no matter what, but I wonder if the pull back from a perfect season comes back to bite Coach Caldwell. From undefeated a couple of weeks ago to the hot seat is going to be a an amazing fall from grace, but that's where we will be if they lose to the red-hot Ravens.
