Giants lead the major league in injuries and angst

This weekend brings back bad memories of 2011, the swing year between the two titles. Just butt ugly, car leaking oil all over the driveway messy. Brutal to watch.

It seems as if there is a revolving door from the training room to the  starting lineup and back again for the Giants which has certainly led to some of the angst. Some of the angst is just over the top however. Buster Posey was questioned for missing a swipe tag and his season long slump, some of which can be attributed to injuries.

from Giants Extra:

Giants Extra - An inside look at the San Francisco Giants:
The greater concern may be Angel Pagan, who had to be scratched from the starting lineup before the game with lower back stiffness. Pagan wasn’t around after the game, but he seemed fine sitting at his locker before the game. It was tough to get a read from the Giants how serious Pagan’s condition might be.

There was better news on Buster Posey, who took such a hard shot off his mask, Bumgarner said he thought he saw a chip of paint fly off of it. But Posey was at his locker afterward, and seemed to think he’d be OK.

“I feel fine,” he said. “It just kind of stung me a little bit, but everything feels normal.”

Posey received the battery of concussion tests and said “everything’s good. I think they’ll check in with me later tonight and in the morning just to make sure nothing has changed.”

If this most recent Matheny-like concussion scare doesn't hasten his move to somewhere (anywhere?) on the IF, I don't know what will. Never mind asking if it's time to Panik, maybe we should be endeavoring to find out if this Susac kid can handle the rigors of catching in the middle of a white-hot pennant race.

I'm being a bit sarcastic here. I like Brandon Hicks, his defense is stellar and the Jeff Kent like power potential is somewhat alluring, but how long before, as they say, he gets off the Interstate and starts challenging the Mendoza line?

It's amazing being a Giants fan:
Six and  a half games up in the division,
playing .615 ball with a lineup that it seems like Bochy assembles everyday like a jigsaw puzzle,
Our franchise player sucks lately,
Pagan takes routes to fly balls in CF like he's on a Haight-Ashbury acid trip.
Our closer has gone from invincible to Armando Benitez overnight.
And oh, did I mention we're playing .615 ball and leading the division by 6.5 games?
It's amazing being a Giants fan.

Amazing and angst filled.
