Giants 2nd Day Draft Haul

So after the first day haul of two prominent HS bats, the Giants lead off the second day with a highly regarded HS LHP. Normally, that would excite me greatly however, I actually read the above thumbnail from mlb.com and noticed a comp to Matt Moore. Then some more details that make the comparison a little too close for comfort.

3.96 Seth Corry LHP Lone Peak HS

It also bring up some uncomfortable questions:

Don't we already have the original Matt Moore?
Are we happy with that Matt Moore?
Then why do we need another Matt Moore?
Is this Matt Moore 2.0 a new and improved model and by how much?

3rd round picks shouldn't bring up uncomfortable questions, so good luck kid. Oh and BTW, lose the Matt Moore comparison.QUICKLY!!

4.126 Garrett Cave RHP University of Tampa

Garrett Cave both went to and excelled at the University of Tampa.
My wife (Mrs. The Slav) went to an excelled at the University of Tampa.

I like this comparison already. Except that my wife excelled in accounting which has no bearing on Mr. Cave's ability. Except........the UT also excels in turning out pitchers every bit as much as it turns out successful accountants........so there you have it.

The Giants next closer in waiting.

See how easy this draft stuff is?

6.186 Bryce Johnson CF Sam Houston State

Bryce Johnson sounds like every failed collegiate CF prospect the Giants have drafted in the past.

Except.....I heard this speech from his BB coach on another forum.

This is after a 19-0 loss to Florida State that ended their season. If you can play for a guy like this and not become a better player and more importantly a better person....well than we just wasted a draft pick.

I'm going to guess this kid can play some and I'm already rooting for him hard to succeed.

If you don't get chills after watching this, as a coach or as a person, you need a check up. Seriously.

Then the Giant went back to collecting big, durable, collegiate RHP.

See, all is right with the world again.
