Stratton pitched his first outing at the AA level and it was typical of his priors. Nondescript, nothing eye-popping. But at least it's AA.
Fellow 2012 draftee Martin Agosta continues to post disappointing numbers for his stage of development. A 10+ K/9 ratio combined with a 4.6 BB/9 ratio puts him in Crick's company without Crick's stuff. You can predict the results as he moves up the chain.
It seems more and more as if Stratton and Agosta, drafted #1 and #2 in 2012 are falling behind Steve Okert (#4 in 2012) Ty Blach (#5 in 2012) in terms of performance and potential.
You'd like to see the K/BB ratio above 3.00, which is about the average for prospects. Stratton currently sits at 2.68 for his pro career while Agosta comes in at 2.22. Both are at 1.37 WHIP and the average prospect sits at about 1.25.
If the WHIP number is high at AA and below, it only goes higher at AAA and the bigs.
