Matt Cain gets first win as Giants sweep Dodgers - Yahoo! Sports

If you had told me before the season started that the Matt Cain would be on pace towards a 5-10 record and the Giants would still be in first place, I would take that deal. Cain will turn it around, yesterday was a first step. I was hoping for a walk-off hat trick but have to settle for a sweep. What a tough life being a Giants fan has become. We used to talk of torture and consecutive years without a pennant and now we complain about trivial matters.

from Yahoo Sports:
The Juice: Matt Cain gets first win as Giants sweep Dodgers; Justin Verlander impeccable for Tigers | Big League Stew - Yahoo! Sports:

After two consecutive nights where they needed walk-off wins to beat the rival Los Angeles Dodgers, the San Francisco Giants looked to have things in order Sunday night.
Matt Cain, winless on the year at that point, cruised into the eighth inning. Hunter Pence drove in all four Giants run with two doubles and a fielder's choice. The Giants were up 4-0. But then, as tends to happen when the Dodgers and Giants play, things got interesting.

Metallica rocks AT&T Park and then Quiroz brings the house down with a walk off encore

Metallica performs the anthem
5/3/13: Bay Area heavy metal legends Metallica perform the "Star-Spangled Banner" before the Giants' game against the Dodgers

This stuff never gets old.

"You think you know, but you just don't know"

from mlb.com (video)

from Yahoo Sports:

The pinch-hitting Quiroz smacked a home run off former teammate Brandon League with one out in the 10th inning and the Giants overcame a seventh-run fifth by the Los Angeles Dodgers to beat their National League West rivals 10-9 at AT&T Park.
In beating the Dodgers in walk-off fashion for the second night in a row, the Giants capped their 11th come-from-behind victory of the season thanks to Quiroz's heroics -- the first walk-off hit of a big-league career that had previous stints with Toronto, Seattle, Texas, Baltimore and Boston.
"I learned not too long ago: You've got to take a shot," Quiroz said of swinging for the fences even while facing a two-strike count against League. "I hit it pretty good. When I hit them like that in BP (batting practice), usually they go out."

It's good to be Buster Posey

It must ALWAYS be good to be Buster Posey.

It must be better to be Buster Posey after hitting a walk-off HR to beat the Dodgers in your own yard.

from Yahoo Sports:
http://sports.yahoo.com/news/sfs-posey-hits-walk-off-070038186--mlb.html
"It's a good feeling," said Posey, who was well aware of never having hit a walk-off homer since his days in the Giants' minor-league system. "It was already a long game."
In fact, the walk-off hit was the first of any kind for Posey as a big-leaguer. This one was historic -- the first leadoff, game-ending home run in San Francisco since 1976.

Such a great AB, the KNBR commentators had gone the entire AB gushing about how tough Belisario would be to take yard -- no HR's against all season. He goes 3-2 to Posey while tossing two pitches that can only be described as Belisario's best Ryne Duren imitation ( they hit the backstop) and yet our hero prevails.

This is the best video I could find, it may not be on long:

Yeah, if I was Buster, I guess I'd be polishing the trophy a lot too.

This is just who he is and this is just what he does. And the SABR-cats say there is no such thing as clutch hitting (although it was his first walk-off HR -- but that can't be the only criteria). They just don't know Buster Posey!! Get you calculators out fellas and enjoy the analysis.

Anytime you can end your night doing this to the Dodgers, that's a GOOD night. It's nice to see the umpires join in on the fun once in a while --  you go run along now Nick Punto. Don't you be arguing with an umpire like that. Classic!!

The Dodgers had a tough night. But not as tough as this guy. Close, but not this bad.

Beat LA, beat LA indeed.
