This is the Matt Moore that Giants fans will have seared into their memory. Getting the hook. 

Every time he started it seems, I dreaded and wondered, "How many innings before he allows five runs." Sadly, it was often very early, within 3 innings before it was obvious he was torched.

The lost, dazed and confused look is another lasting memory. But for the Giants, it's prospect-palooza as they pick up two here and maybe another two on the come when they deal Hunter Pence, in another "salary dump"

At least the Giants prospect bloggers will wet their pants with delight, as the two prospects we just picked up will be lauded as the next coming. The description "a couple of buckets of balls" is more apt. These prospects have one chance in a hundred of making an impact anywhere near the major league level.

But the prospect-nati would gladly see Bumgarner traded for one Clint Frazier, two Kyle Cricks and one Gary Brown. Ridiculous.

The Giants track record in player development is already pretty poor. Why would you want to give them more prospects? And yet, these fools persist in their "prospect love". I'm glad some of these fools are nowhere near running an organization, it's just that those that are running it seem to be dumb on the opposite side of the spectrum. They never met an aging veteran or a reclamation project, on the down side of productivity, that they didn't like. And liking them wouldn't be so bad, they seem to have a fetish about throwing gobs and gobs of money at them.

And there's a guy on the payroll right now, who deserves to have gobs of money thrown at him, who currently barely out-earns Matt Moore, who they just paid another team to take off their hands. It would be foolish, I repeat foolish, for the Giants to screw up this negotiation, or take the chicken-shit way out by trading him for a Clint Frazier and two or three buckets of balls.

The Giants don't seem to understand or can't properly execute a simple plan:

The Giants must develop their own young players, so they get productivity during the
pre-arbitration/free-agency years. Players are underpaid relative to productivity during the pre-arb years, fairly paid during the arb years and overpaid during the free-agent years.  

Maybe if they were as good at player development as they are at real-estate development, the roster would be in better shape:

I'm not sure that given the Giants prior track record with free-agents, that giving them more money is such a great idea. Hopefully, they allocate more to better scouting, especially at the HS level, and coaching, player development at the minor league level.

The days of drafting college bats like Posey, Belt, Crawford and Panik, throwing them in the microwave (minors) for 1,000 AB's and poof, out comes a major-league hitter, should be over. Time to roll up your sleeves and teach HS kids how to hit like men. That's four to six years of sweat equity rather than two or three.

Time to man up on the player development side, Gigantes.

Giants 2017 Starters

This is it, save for a couple of forgettable Chris Stratton starts. If the Giants knew how bad the season was going to be, do you think they would have DFA'd Clayton Blackburn? I sure would have liked to have seen him in extended meaningful action, I think he'd have developed into a keeper like Ty Blach seems to be doing. 

Believe it or not, the core problem is not here. Samardzija has to keep the ball in the yard and get finer with the strike zone. He's discovering the difference between control (throwing strikes) and command (throwing strikes with stuff and proper location). It just can't be anywhere in the strike zone. We tell twelve and thirteen year-olds with "stuff" to just throw it down the middle and dare them to hit it. That doesn't work in the show. The other guys is getting paid big bucks too.  

Nothing stops Bumgarner, except dirt-bikes and lack of run support. Not worried about him. PAY THE MAN!!

Blach pitches to contact and keeps the ball in the yard and on the ground. So he may get hit but he can get a DP limit damage. Talk to Samardzija.

Cueto has to get it back. He got exposed a little after Bumgarner went down. I don't think he's a pure #1 anymore. He needs some cover. Keep Bummer away from dirt bikes.

Matt Moore is truly vexing. I think a lot of it is between his ears. When he threw the WP and forgot to cover home recently, I though Posey should have drilled him with it. It might have knocked some sense back into him. He seems to forget how to compete when things go wrong. When the wheels come off for him, they don't go back on easily, like for Blach and Bummer. He supposedly has 3-4 pitches, none of which he can really command. Which means he really doesn't have any pitches.

Matt Cain. Hey, thanks for the memories. Here's your $7M buyout for next year. The old-timers game is in June, you think you can give us a couple of innings? Maybe get some guys out there? What do they say, if you have two Matt's in your rotation, you really don't have any? TRUTH!!

Moore has to figure it out quickly or, as long as we're into bringing back the old guard, let's just offer him back to the Rays for Matt Duffy, if he ever gets off the DL. He plays left, Parker goes to RF and Pence, IDK about Pence. He makes a lot of money so.......yeah. That's why we can never have a nice team around here.

Finally!! An acknowledgment that the Giants are just playing losing baseball on all fronts. And this from one of the teams greatest apologists on-air. I am tired of the pundits and the scribes repeating the may the Giants are just getting BABIP'd to death or the pitching staff is "unlucky" all the freaking time.

Matt Moore is not unlucky.
Matt Moore has no control and no command of his stuff.
In or out of the strike zone. He hangs it, they bang it. Consistently. MISTAKES.
One is an anomaly, two is a coincidence, three or more is a trend.
Matt Moore is in a deep trend.
He must miss his spots more than anybody in the league.
Let's see that metric.

His FIP -- which removes BABIP, allegedly -- is the worst on the staff.
So are all the other relevant metrics.

Sometimes you just suck. Own it and grow from it. Acknowledgment of the problem is the first step.
W-L shouldn't stand for Winning and Losing, is should be Winning and Learning. Making excuses for mistakes inhibits/delays/retards Learning. STOP IT!! Just STOP IT!!

Hopefully the Krukow epiphany is happening behind closed doors in this clubhouse. Somebody needs to trash a post-game spread or two on this team which is to say step up and lead.

Looking at you Posey. Looking at you Pence. Looking at you Belt. You're getting big money now. Looking at you Crawford. Ditto on the contract.

These are the guys on the field every day  drawing large dollars. We seem to have a lot of dead money on the pitching staff, if there is also a lot of dead money in the everyday lineup, this becomes DEAD TEAM WALKING.

Right now it seems like the team needs a heart transplant. Hopefully, just a stent or two.
