Yeah, that was rather deceptive right there. Brutal!! For a gamer, that was an epic loss of focus by an umpire ALMOST on the the level of the Jim Joyce near-Perfect Game fiasco with Gallaraga of the Tigers a while back. Not quite the implications, of course. But the same result, just a total mental lock-up on the part of the umpire. He may have had "punch-out" wishful thinking pre-programmed in and he got what he wished for. With Joyce, he should have been locked in to ring up an out, so we're a bit opposite field here, but still.......this one is going to be tough for the blues to shake.
