He looks very comfortable out there, not intimidated by the big stage at all. He didn't get rattled when Arrieta hit the HR. Rodriguez was a converted OF and flew under the radar as far as the prospect lists go.
He was originally drafted by the Twins, a sixth rounder in 2011. For his career, WHIP is 1.21 K/9 is 7.6 and BB//9 is at 2.5, so a good K/BB ratio. He looks like a strike thrower, so he's not going to beat himself. He has a FB-CB-CH-Cutter repertoire and the FB runs about 92-93, according to http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/detail_pitching.asp?ID=165096.
He looks like he could handle bullpen duty if Bumgarner, Cueto and Samardzija can all get healthy at the same time, but he'll compete with Stratton and Blach for those last two slots. Stratton is the clear front-runner for now, with Blach getting pushed to the bullpen.
