To be compared to Carl Hubell and Christy Mathewson is very impressive.
Glavine and Clemens were not too shabby either.

POSTGAME NOTES: Giants deliver another punch; Blanco defies AT&T Park | Giants Extra:
Bumgarner became the third Giants pitcher to start a World Series game with back-to-back strikeouts. The other two? Try Mathewson (1905) and Carl Hubbell (1933).
Great stat from @brooksbaseball that showed how tough Bumgarner was: Miguel Cabrera swung through a 90 mph fastball in that nine-pitch at-bat in the seventh; it was just the 12th time all year Cabrera missed a fastball that was less than 91 mph.
Since 1950, only three pitchers have had 7+ scoreless innings in a World Series game while giving up just two hits and striking out eight: Bumgarner, Tom Glavine and Roger Clemens.
